When you look at these carvings, can you tell what they’re made of?
They look super realistic but they’re actually carved out of bamboo by the insanely talented Japanese artist Noriyuki Saitoh.
Each bamboo insect is life-sized with features identical to the insects they’ve been modeled after.
Each insect is a minimalist design, highly detail oriented, and immediately demands your attention for the sheer skill Saitoh exudes through each piece.
“We are not preparing specimens and replicas, we strictly measure the dimensions and prioritize the appearance, features, and senses rather than proportions being exact,” said Saitoh.
